If you’re tired of taking antibiotics after every doctor’s visit, you don’t have health insurance or you just don’t agree with taking medicine, this article will cure your conundrum. This is a collection of holistic, all natural cold remedies that grandma forgot to tell you about- probably because she’s older than dirt. That’s right. They’re all effective and inexpensive ways to get your health on..

1) Snortable Sinus Sanitizer.

Ready.
Germs. Hate. Salt.
If your snot is any color other than clear, you probably have a sinus infection. It’s either viral or bacteria based. Germs. Hate. Salt.
If you get a cut on your elbow, do you wash your feet? This is the same idea. The best ways to rid an infection is to kick it at the source. This is my recipe for Snortable Sinus Sanitizer.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup warm water
1 tbsp. salt
Tissues
Warm the half cup of water. Add two tablespoons of salt and mix until dissolved. Over a sink, hold one nostril closed with an index finger. With the free hand, tilt the cup or spoon up to your nose until your free nostril is submerged. Breathe the saltwater through the open submerged nostril. Immediately tilt your head back so the salt water can completely drain through your nasal cavity.
This will feel uncomfortable. If it doesn’t, you’re probably Jack Bauer. Leave your head tilted back for 20 seconds. Repeat for each nostril twice. Clean up. Remember to dump the remainder of the saltwater. You think I’m kidding…
Do this twice a day.

2) Green Tea with Lemon & Honey
Tea is a natural diuretic, stimulates your immune system and is suspected to prevent cancer. Why Green tea? Green tea is a milder source of caffeine. If you’re slamming Black Tea between Rockstar Energy Drinks™, you’re gonna feel great for twenty minutes before you drop from post-buzz narcolepsy. If you prefer other tea flavors, get them decaffeinated.
The citric acid in the lemon does two things:
1) It provides you with a source of vitamin C which boosts your immune system.
2) It’s a diuretic and will aid your body in flushing out foreign bacteria.
Throughout my twelve year music career, many vocalists swore to the therapeutic coating effects of honey. At gigs, I’ve found it keeps my voice from sounding like I swallowed a Brillo-Pad. Plus it tastes good. No-Brainer.

3) Gargling With Listerine
Oral-antiseptic was designed to kill micro-organisms that cause bad breath. It will not heal a sore throat or the common cold. Oral-antiseptic will increase your chance of getting better because it will reduce the number of unwanted micro-organisms in your throat. Added bonus: Listerine will mildly numb the pain caused by a sore throat. The future is looking bright…

4) Drink A Gallon of Water
This will make you pee like an excited puppy, but good old H20 will speed up any excretion of foreign cold-causing devils from your body. This is primary if you want to get better quickly.
Profuse sweating and nasal drainage can lead to unsuspected dehydration; it’s imperative to stay on top of this. I recommend a gallon a day. If you have a Nalgene Bottle, fill it up and park it next to you. That’s four 32oz. Nalgene bottles, for those of you that are counting.

5) Canned Chicken Soup
Remember the rule. Germs. Hate. Salt. Any high sodium food will suffice. Think of it as the Cavalry.
Don’t go overboard. One can of condensed soup per day is plenty. Crackers and other snack foods will have salt too, but are likely not providing any nutrition.

6) Onion Fumes
Bam. Natural Nasal Decongestant. Dice a quarter bulb into a bowl and breath it until you can breath again. If this isn’t enough kick, try eating a slice of bread with a little Habanero sauce.
Onion is a natural antibiotic. Saute’ it with your chicken when you’re done crying. Pop in Forrest Gump for cover.

7) Eat Garlic
It’s a natural antibiotic. Also a natural anti-vampiric. I know this because I’m from Pennsylvania. It works well with most Italian dishes.
…
8 ) Eat Extra Food
Some people swear that fasting during a fever is the best way to “sweat it out”. They’re wrong. Your body is a biological machine that needs fuel to function. Vegetables, whole grains and lean foods high in protein are what you need. More so when you’re sick! Do yourself a favor and eat up.

9) Sleep
The more the merrier. Food for thought:
“one of the most alluring sleep distractions is the 24-hour accessibility of the internet.”
-The National Sleep Research Project

Remember to keep positive intentions about regaining your health. Dwelling on how much you’re missing by being sick isn’t helping you get better. That’s probably the same thinking that got you sick in the first place. Focus your energy on healing your body.
Your health is infinitely more important than a job, that appointment or anything else you’re trying to justify right now. If you were really concerned about all these things, you would not still be reading this article. You’d be implementing these remedies.
And if you’re aren’t sick, why are you still reading this? Get a life!
